Where my drone career started

Tourism is where my aerial career began, and it is still the work I love most. Lakes, mountains, resorts, and the operators who live off a great first impression: an aerial is usually the single image that makes someone book. My tourism clients have included Travel Alberta, Visit Bragg Creek, and tourism brands across Australia.

Destination films, resort and lodge marketing, houseboat and lake tourism, event coverage, and campaign stills. Shot in 6K so one flight delivers both the film and the photography.

Destinations from the air

From Alberta's foothills and rivers to lakes in the BC interior and coastlines in Australia, I have flown destination and tourism work across three countries. The circa-2016 Australia frames in this set are a reminder that I have been doing this a long time, long before most operators picked up a drone.

Recent Alberta work includes the Eccelstone Horse Transport films, following rigs across the prairie and foothills to Spruce Meadows, which double as a love letter to the province from the air.

A long way from the first Phantom

My tourism aerials started in Sydney, flying reefs, rainforest coastlines, and the Opera House on early DJI gear when drones were barely on store shelves. Those years taught me the craft the hard way, and the eye behind the sticks is what carried over.

A decade-plus later the tools are extraordinary and the rules are real, and I still love nothing more than making a place look like somewhere you have to go. Variety of country and a long track record are hard to fake.

FAQ — Tourism & destination aerials

Common questions

Do you shoot tourism and destination drone films and photography?

Yes. Resorts, lakes, mountains, lodges, events, and destination marketing are where my aerial career began and still a core specialty, for clients including Travel Alberta and Visit Bragg Creek. I deliver both film and hero stills from a single flight.

Have you flown tourism work outside Alberta?

Yes. I have shot destination and tourism aerials across three countries, including years of resort, reef, and coastline work in Australia since 2016, plus lakes and mountains across the BC interior. Variety of location and a long track record come with the work.

Can you cover events and festivals from the air?

Yes, planned and flown legally. I hold a Transport Canada Basic RPAS certificate and scope each event so the flight stays safe and compliant while still getting the coverage a destination campaign needs.

How long have you been flying, and what do you shoot on?

More than ten years, since 2016. My main drone is the DJI Mavic 4 Pro shooting 6K across three focal lengths, so one flight delivers wide establishers, compressed mid shots, and long-lens detail, all gradable to match a full production.
